It costs a little more but go aftermarket, it sounds much better (even with less speakers).

It's a pretty common thing.

Premium OEM speaker sets usually aren't that great, and they charge a lot for the "upgrade".

There have also been plenty of forums with people swapping out the speakers from their 9-speaker upgrades with better, aftermarket options.

It doesn't matter if the speakers are labeled Bose, Pioneer, or whomever, there is always a better option for about the same price.

My previous car was a Hyundai Sonata, I opted not to get the upgraded speakers for $900. I ended up with a Rockford Fosgate Sub, 2xAmps and door speakers for $875 installed. Blew away anything Hyundai would have installed from the factory.

Edit: Check out the Renegade forums for the 2016's. People absolutely hate the Beats speaker upgrades they paid for.

I can attest to the Mopar/Kicker upgrade speakers. They are plug and play and improve the sound 100%. I have installed them in 3 of my previous vehicles, and for the price, you can't beat them. I am in the process of installing them in my TH. They just arrived at my Dealer today.

On a Mopar forum I frequent, many are displeased with the Beats option in their Chargers. And a greater percentage are very unhappy with the top of the line Harmon Kardon (sp?) option which is a $2,000 option.

I ordered my TH with the standard system.

I was just wondering because I have the upgraded speakers in our Ford and I am only slightly impressed with them whereas the upgraded 9 speaker system in my th is outstanding.

I have heard the standard 6 (which I have (had)) and the premium 9. The upgraded speakers sound better for sure but going with a processor/amp/new speaker setup sounds wayyyy better and looks/functions 100% stock.

Like someone else said, even the upgraded speakers on cars aren't that great, they are usually still paper and not the same Alpine, Pioneer, RF, whatever speakers you would get buying aftermarket, it's all just branding.

I had the beats system in my 300, it was OK but nothing special. The ONLY upgraded factory setup I had that I thought was pretty **** good was in my 2014 Journey RT.

Just my opinion.

Not sure if you were on the Journey forum or not, but the consensus was that the upgrade was horrible. As my Salesman was writing the paperwork for my TH, there was a DJ in the showroom with the optional system and I played around with it. It didn't sound that bad (Based on what was written on the forum) but the sound was nowhere near the 9 speaker in my TH. This is the best factory upgrade that I have ever heard. BTW, I traded a 2014 Journey Crossroad for my TH. I was shopping for a TH back in 2014, but was smitten by the DJ in Copperhead Pearl!
