I went into the dealership today and wanted my 4x4 4 cyl lattitude with convenience package . $29,900 final msrp is what it came to. I presented then
My truecar.com print out of 27,400 and their eyes almost bugged out. They CLAIM that the invoice to the car was $28,900 and that was the best they could do.
I'm just curious, what have you guys got the price for? (Before taxes)
Did the dealership work with you well on the price?
Be sure to list what kind of cherokee you got if it's not in your signature
So you got over 4 grand off the msrp of yours yet I couldn't even get $2500 off. Did you have any rebates ??
I Will be going to another dealership this Saturday
I'm in the market and have talking with one dealer that is willing to take 2,866 off MSRP including option and claims they can go no lower. Anyone have an idea how much dealer profit is built into each option?
2014 trailhawk
$37,710 total with options
sale price listed at 33, 649
$995 destination and $200 processing is added back in
So $34,844 total
I think partly it depends on where you are. If the vehicle demand is high enough, the less discount you are going to get. Why give you the discount when they can sell it to someone else almost immediately for more. Go to truecar.com and see if that can give you a better idea.
I once flew to Austin TX from near Tulsa OK just because no one around here would negotiate on a certain vehicle. It was a hot seller at the time.
I'm in Massachusetts and went to five dealers (literally all over the state). I put $500 cash down on trail hawk with cloth seats and the cold weather pkg ($33,775). On top of that I had a 2009 Grand Cherokee in excellent shape with 89k miles to trade. I got different offers on the trade and various discounts ranging from...
I ended up going with the last place I went to which initially offered $9500 trade with a $2500 discount but ended up giving me $10,750 trade with the same discount. I was basically taking what I was offered for my trade and adding it to the discount and seeing who would give up the biggest number. The MSRP cost never changed of course. Just what my bottom line would be.
I got irritated when the first place ($3000 discount) called me back and offered $10000 on the trade. I was already insulted by their low ball offer and the claim when I questioned them that I got a low ball offer because it was such a great discount. I asked "if I had come in here with a $10000 cash down payment were you going to tell me to keep $1500 for myself since you were giving such an awesome discount?" This place has a great service department but has a reputation for a clueless sales dept.
I paid 33,200 for TH,3.2L V6, CD player, cold/comfort/tow and leather.
But also got $1000 for my 2001 escape with 189,000 mi. So I think I did ok.
This car is selling well so dealers don't have to cut you too much slack.
NYC area
Forgot to mention this includes free oil change(unlimited the first year then by schedule) and inspections for life. Since I am getting the lifetime warranty this is going to cost them.
Have posted this before, if dealers won't deal, there is always tread lightly/affiliate program that automatically gets you 1% below invoice plus any rebates/incentives.
Dealers around me are already advertising $1500 to $2500 off just on their websites. I'm buying a cherokee in a few weeks and I'm working these guys for the best deal. The last new Jeep I bought was a 2008 Jeep Commander ltd. I got over $8000 off that msrp. I'll post my final price in a few weeks.
I got $3500 off MSRP. So $37,010 less $3,500 final price $33,500. You actually can do better if you have a few dealers quote you. Here's a Chicago dealer's website that quoted me then I went back to my dealer and he matched.
Just double checked our paperwork:
Msrp 34,720
paid 33,250
That includes the 500 rebate.
We also got 3years oil changes.
They did ok on the trade, they hit the number I had on my little notepad, so pretty good...
This was only the second trailhawk they got. It was not even on the lot yet!
has the 8.4an, leather, tow, 3.2.
Looked up prices online, and that seemed fair to us and the dealer.
invoice price includes dealer holdback, which for jeep is 3%. So if they sell at invoice, they still make 3% profit... I personally just want a fair deal, I don't want to cut all the dealer profits out, but I also don't want to get hosed... research, research, research!
FYI to all you Realtors buying Chrysler products. We receive an extra $500 off your FINAL negotiated price for being a member of NAR (National Association of Realtors). Plus you get an updated maintenance program.
My Trailhawk's sticker price was $40,205. I paid $36,995, which included the $500 Chrysler rebate. I also bought on the last day of the month. They would do no more and I'm sure they made up any lost profit in my trade-in.
This was for a Trailhawk off of their lot. If I was placing a factory order, they would not offer me the same deal. The discount would have been much less in that case.
Simple: (1) 7-9% off MSRP and you got a very good deal. that's with $500 consumer cash.
(2) Run True car for your zip code and that's a good deal. Take the % off MSRP True car is saying they can save you and apply that to any on lot Cherokee.
My local dealer thought I was nuts with a true car price quote. He claimed he never heard of them! I had to go to the big city 300 miles (via internet/phone) and factory ordered one which landed up at 7.5% off. That was $400 lower than True car at the time of order. True Car is even lower now! If the dealer could have found one for me on a lot it would have been in the 9% off area.
Find one on a dealers lot via internet listing like the one you want and poke them for more information. You can work out the deal on the phone.
I did not have to go into the dealer till the car came in.
If you are close to Chicago there are a bunch of high volume dealers where you could do very good.
Limited AWD Type I transmission
Tech, Luxury, 9 Speaker, Navigation upgrade, Destination charge=$35930-2930 discount and additional $500 rebate= $32500 before tax, title. Had 3 firm offers through TrueCar.com. Took lowest bid to local dealer and he immediately matched it. In Production right now.
There is a dealer on LI that posts discounts of $5,000-$6,000 off MSRP for Cherokee Latitude, Limited and TH's on their website by individual stock numbers. I e-mailed them to ask if the discount include incentives and the said yes. They also indicated that they would be willing to take off a little more. Their discounts run approximately 16-18% off of MSRP.Has anyone received this size of a discount off of a 30,000-35,000 MSRP Cherokee?

I would be surprised at discounts that large off MSRP as a raw number.
Some of the higher ones past 9% I have seen have conditions such as: with a min. value trade in or some other condition. In these times small print bears watching.
For a Limited FWD with 3.2 V6, Luxury Pkg. and NAV...found internet pricing a few hours away at $3500 off MSRP (hitch was have to buy one they have in stock and the one equipped as I wanted was a color I can't live with.) Local dealers "couldn't go any lower" until I found one at that price, then found they could indeed order a new one for me at the same price. Meanwhile one turned up on another local dealer lot that was exactly what I wanted; they would only get to within $700 of that price, but gave me a great price on trade in plus that saved me $1875 in sales tax so my bottom line was by far the best there. By calling around to dealers within a few hours drive, I found $2800 to $3500 very doable.
