How did I do on the Trailhawk?

Dec 30th GF wanted a free entertainment book for a test drive.

I drove a trailhawk.. ended up trading in the subaru forester...
one expensive book .

2017 Trailhawk v6, 8.4uconnect, the "Black painted wheels?"

msrp 36700

paid 27500
+$250 fees and sales tax of $1000 or so.

Starting negotiations $33000 trailhawk $14000 for my trade in

ended up at the 27500 and 18000 trade in.

financing 2.49% 60month.->Chase. no fees.

Took about 6 trips to "talk to the manager"

Really liking the jeep so far. Getting used to an automatic transmission after 2 MT equipped foresters in a row.

Best thing so far: the 8.4" screen my 15 forester had an antique radio and backup camera was 3" screen way up on dash. *runner up* engine heats up 3x faster than the forester in winter.

Worst thing(s) so far: unexpected torque steer, slightly numb steering, hatch area not nearly as big.

Let me say again: Really liking the Jeep

You did great!!!!!!!!!!!!
The one thing I am impressed with is you considered the New Cherokee and the trade in 2 seperate transactions.
I know how dealers like to combine them in one price with the new car purchase.
I'll take 9k off any time on a KL.

Torque steer? Shouldn't be, unless your PTU isn't working and it's operating in FWD only. Even in auto mode, any slippage at the front engages the rears pretty much instantaneously......if you can spin the fronts from a standing start on pavement, your system isn't working right.

Put it in sport or mud/sand mode on a dirt or gravel road and see if all four wheels are spinning on take off......

I agree. Torque steer? If you have the Tech Group, you will think that you are experiencing torque steer, but it is actually the Lane Keeper keeping you centered in the Lane; nudging the steering wheel. I initially thought that it was torque steer, or that I needed an alignment.

A few things I was only hitting the highlights of the Jeep.

I do like the look better, the seats are better, the radio is better.
Of course the subaru was a $25500 msrp model.

The torque steer I mentioned was me stepping on the gas going uphill through an intersection. its on a slight curve..

and the pull was definitely hard right @ about 20mph.
no torque steer whatsoever from a stop.
I'm pretty sensitive to it because subarus have 0 torque steer ever with their boxer/equal length setup.

Not a major issue was just unexpected.

The trade in was pretty good. The subaru only GTP price was 18700 with 22500 or less miles I had 26700miles and got 18000 without the inflated subaru guaranteed trade in program.

I was happy with everything except the finance guy he was fairly douchy... huffy, puffy, and he called me "my friend" about 8x needed a hot shower after that. Oh and he tried adding 500$ to the price because I wasnt going through chrysler financial... WELL for one their offer have no stipulations on who I financed with. Got extra
douchbaggery after I pointed out the $500.. we he just wasnt going to mention. its all hidden in the numbers so its actually kind of hard to see between rebates tradein downpayment etc.

(example "thats the best deal you are getting my friend")

Regarding your comment about warmup time, I'm sure that's partly due to the boxer engine in the Forester. A lot more surface area with a horizontally opposed 4 cylinder.

My '17 Outback does take quite a bit longer to get up to full operating temperature compared to my wife's TH. Good thing I have 3 position heated seats to heat up my backside while I wait for the engine to output some heat.
