Leasing 2017 Cherokee Latitude. What do you think?

I live in Westchester NY. Our 2014 Lease is up on the Cherokee Latitude. We want to get the new '17 Cherokee safety/convenience package V6 AWD. What do you think I should pay for a lease like this we currently pay 320/month 3k down. I will test the negotiating skills at the dealer tomorrow.

Happy to! Unfortunately, leases are very different monsters from state to state, and in my experience NY is among the more complicated. I'm afraid I won't be able to provide much guidance in the way of a payment expectation. However, you don't seem foreign to the prospect of a lease, so I'll focus on the basics. Look at the capitalized cost, not so much the payment, if you're trying to focus on "the deal". You should qualify for all consumer incentives, plus the Returning Lessee rebate. I'm not sure what the market in NY is, but my dealership in MD does a lot of business with NY customers, so if you're willing to drive a bit for an exceptional deal I would love to help you out. You would not be the first member on here to purchase from my store! Pm me and I'll give you more details if you would like.

I'm sorry, but as i said i will be unable to provide you with guidance on the payment. there are too many factors involved other than just the capitalized cost (ie what are you doing with your current lease, how many miles are you setting yourself up for, do you have a mileage overage you are paying on your old car, etc etc etc). plus, each state handles leases differently in regards to the taxes and tags. no one will really be able to tell you if you got a good deal on the car by the payment alone. just because dealer A has a $350 payment does not mean that you got a better deal than dealer B who was $365. maybe dealer A simply extended the lease term to get to that payment, for example.

I figured it would be hard to decide if we got a good deal. In 2014 we leased the V6 4x4 Cherokee just with Nav and backup camera for 320 month 3k down 39 months 12k miles year. Today we leased the one I sent you the sticker for 3k down 310 a month with safety convenience package. I think we got a good deal since we added a package with more features compared to our 2014 since the 2017 has camera standard and now HID lights standard. Same deal 12k 39 months. Same month term same money down, same mileage excellent credit. I looked at Truecar and think we did the best as possible.

This thread, which is essentially the OP providing no facts and then talking to himself, has to be one of the more ridiculous on this forum.

It's a forum... and leases are complex. "Monsters", as @IRSmart pointed out, and he knows first hand. A lease, at best, is an acceptable compromise for a small segment of the car buying public, but too often they are misunderstood and end up costing folks too much. Or they just entice some to buy above their budget capacity.

And *some* sales people will use this complexity to increase the profit margin, either by omitting to disclose some of the math, or by pushing a more expensive trim/model on the unsuspecting, thus stepping up on the profit margin ladder.

I'm surprised we haven't had more lease questions here, to be honest.
