Does anyone have any details on where factory-order Cherokees about to be built now are being built? FCA said there would be months of "overlap" between Cherokee production at the Toledo and Belvidere plants, and Belvidere was supposed to be starting up around now. And does it matter? Will they know what the **** they're doing at the beginning in Belvidere??
I presume whatever quality checks were in place in Toledo will also be in place in Belvidere. It's an industrial process - shouldn't matter that much, and the amount that does matter is outside of your control.
That said, sure there's things that workers at the old facility knew that the new ones might not, but you've got a warranty, so you've got recourse if something is just screwed up. And with factory orders, if your new vehicle shows up and isn't up to spec, then refuse delivery. You're buying a new car, and you deserve for it to be in new condition.
I wouldn't lose any sleep over this. With a custom order I totally get the desire to be in control of everything, but gotta let that go for your own sanity. Patience and let things happen.
True, but at some point it's a numbers game - sometimes you're unlucky, but usually you're fine. I guess if you're that concerned you can always cancel your order and reorder in a few months - no one would fault you for it if it causes a lot of concern.
But short of knowing someone at the facility that's directly responsible for quality control, not sure what other levers you could pull on beyond reordering later. How will you ever know when any perceived kinks might (or might not) have been addressed?
True. No, I'm good. The order already went into D1 status, and if Belvidere is first starting up mid-May, and there will be several months of overlap, I'm guessing that my car is being built in Toledo. The bottom line is, I'm over-thinking this. Besides, I don't want to get stuck ordering a 2018.
Unless your KL is a very special build the one delivered
to you may come from the overlap pool , which means
it could have been built in Toledo and shipped from
a dealer inventory anywhere to fill your order.
I just finished reading todays automotive section of our
local paper and it reports that the Patriot is finished ,
of course there is still going to be an inventory in the
production pool to be disposed thru sales.
It also stated that for the immediate future there will
be 2 models of the Compass available thru sales
"old and new" styles.
