Build Priority - What is it?

Can someone explain what "Build Priority" means on the invoice? Mine reads "99." When I asked my salesman, he said, "Ninety-nine is the highest priority. Top of the queue." I always thought 1 was the top of a queue.

I think 99 means basically "paid customer order" so you go to the top, before stock dealer orders or generic builds

Nice! I hope so. I've seen a couple of long order-to-delivery cycles shown in the forums. Is there a thread on that topic? - [edit:] Nevermind. Just found it!

How did you get that '99' status? You paid, in full, up front?

No. Haven't paid yet. Have a good down, good trade, and great credit though. Maybe that's why?

I believe the dealer gives that code. I think some of the earlier crackdown on dealer stock orders we heard about was because some dealers were using code 99 to try to augment their lot stock when there really was no customer to call it 'paid customer order'. That's why Chrysler insisted on customer info to be verifiable by them and also some dealers insisting on decent down payments.

I looked at my Priced Order Confirmation (POC) and it shows:

Scheduling Priority: 01-Sold Order
Build Priority: 01

My order was placed 1/15 and built 2/13. I had called Jeep CS on 2/12 for a status update. I was told all the necessary parts had been received and the wait was due to a sufficient number of like configured Trailhawks builds for the assembly line to be efficiently configured. I was also told my TH was likely to be built in the next few days given current orders for my configuration and indeed it was built the very next day.

I believe a build in 4 weeks is pretty spot on to the expectation of my salesman given demand.

99 is an employee order code.
Are you a Chrysler employee or retiree?

I have the 99 Build Priority as well because my friend works at a Jeep Dealership and he placed the order for me.

Do you know if that will speed things along in the build process or does it not really have any effect?

Per my dealer, there is no build priority, which pretty much ticks him off. He agrees sold orders should be priority over dealer stock but that is not the way it is. I have spoken to three different dealers and have been told the same thing, and none of them like it one bit. The reasoning is they would have to dedicate a line to build customer orders as not many are exactly the same. This slows down production so it is not feasible. Your vehicle gets put in the queue and when the parts are available it gets in the build line and a hard schedule (D1) is set. Once D1, you can't make changes.

As stated 99 means employee order. Nothing more, nothing less
