9 speaker vs 6 speaker system

Looking for a trailhawk but most have the 6 speaker system. How is the sound quality vs the 9?

I have the 6-speaker model and it sounds perfectly fine to me. I'm not a super audiophile, but the sound quality is pretty good.

I'm sure the 9-speaker version is even better, and honestly for the $300 or so price difference I would have gone with it if it was an option, but the lack of it wasn't much of a big deal for me.

If you want to get even more advanced, you could always get that $500 CD player too .

My 38-year old ears love it. I'm no audiophile, so I can't dazzle you with comments of its lows, highs or mid-ranges, but for me, I think it sounds fantastic.

The sound quality of the 9 is, fair - from my standpoint. I'd much rather have better speaks and sub though as I find it very limiting and quite easy to bottom out. I am going to swap out the speaks for Infinity in the summer. I've put Infinity in pretty much everything I've owned. Very pleasing to my ear.

I'm sure you will have a plethora of opinions about the factory strengths though.

This topic has been covered at least 10 different times on the forums , No idea why the admin or moderator hasn't made a sticky thread .

First off , for the $400.00 price on the (Upgraded) sound system it's worth it in some ways but not what you would think.

#1 The upgraded sound system is supposed to be the Alpine system, sadly its 100% TRASH .. ( Ask my garbage can )
#2 Only the front and read door speakers are alpine , but they have a Mopar / made in China stamp on them. - Very LAME speakers.
#3 Dash and all other speakers are trash as well ( Made in China )

I think it's worth it in a small way as the wiring is there so you can change all of the speakers like I did, Just don't plan on getting the 10 speaker Upgrade system and being happy. OH and even the 8" sub-woofer in the rear is trash.

Like I said , this topic has been covered so many times , I suggest the admins / moderators make a sticky of some old threads.

OH and Arsenal_man , Infinity sadly will not fit in the doors :-( I tried . Also the upgraded system has a 300mhz cutoff so you wont get a boost of treble in the front. This upgraded system really is limited to say the least.

Moved to the electronics sub forum and made sticky. Thanks for the reminder citation10337.

I've never quite understood the need for these hi-fi sound systems but my 83 old ears may not be best judge. I found the 6 speaker system in the Trailhawk to be one of the best in any of the many cars I've owned since 1950. The system in the Wrangler is not quite as good, but the wind noise at highway speed is too high to hear the music in any case. - Ted

I'm a musician and producer, and the 6 speaker sound is great. Sure, a sub would be nice and higher end speakers would probably sound better, but it's a kick-a** base system for listening to music on.

I've been enjoying the 9 speaker system. But that's not saying much since I never heard the 6 speaker system. Also, as TedB brought out, the ambient noise level is important. My former 2005 Honda CR-V had such horrible road noise the only thing the radio was used for was listening to news and talk radio. The quiet of the KL interior allows for a higher level of music enjoyment.

Oh dude, no .... not even the shallow mount Reference 6.5"? I was planning on making some adapters and figured the 6.5" would work well.
