ESS is the engine stop start to save fuel.

No. Only at initial startup, then disappears. It's a voltage thing from what we've come up with. Doesn't actually affect how the lights work.

I can vet this statement.

I occasionally get the error message when first starting the Cherokee. It does not happen at all with ESS (Electronic Start / Stop), and it does not affect the functionality of the headlights in any way.

3rd times a charm?

When I placed the order xenondepot contacted me try a different part. They sent me the orange resistors which still threw the error. Contacted and they said that the they will send me the one that worked and waited about 2 weeks. Got the Blue ones and still having the same issue. Called today and they said they will send me the PWM. I hope this is the fix all for my 2016 Jeep Cherokee TH.

Is it true that HID kit with PNW does nor require ballast and relay? I have 2016 trailhawk. Just plug and play?

Dude..cmon do some basic read through of the thread...

Car Harness ==> PWM Module ==> Ballast ==> HID bulb -

Same thing wih LED headlight? Dude I have never seen any complicated headlight modification like cherokee. So, please excuse me
