Good GPS Suggestion? (In Addition to 8.4AN)

Hello,

I am looking at (thanks to @Pondhopper) doing some Backcountry Discovery Routes in CO and ID, possibly WY and WA. In looking at the manual for my 8.4AN, it does not appear possible to upload GPS tracks. BDR has the route available for free (and per email conversation, highly suggest it), but I need a way to use it!

Any suggestions on the best GPS to use? The last GPS units I used in a vehicle were when I was in the Army, and the darn things only worked half the time period, even less inside the vehicle!

Thanks!

Maybe this one? I called Garmin. I am suggested to buy the US Topo version, then spend an extra $100 plus on various Canadian ones. It could get quite pricey. I need to narrow this down.

Thank you. I do not see that one on the Garmin Site. Are you able to download / use an SD Card to load topographic maps and trip GPS coordinates to it, like a hand held?
