Upgrade 5.0 to 8.4 RA4

Not sure how many people have done the upgrade yet or who are looking to do it but I recently upgraded from the 5.0 to an 8.4 RA4. It's actually a simple plug and play change but does require a dealer flash.
I was hunting around for a while on different sites including eBay and carparts.com and managed to find a local auto wrecker that had a pretty new 2015 which was written off. Price was $500 CDN and was in mint condition. I was close to pulling the trigger for the ones at oemautopartsco.com but they wanted $1100 US so I'm glad I held off.
All said and done, I had to buy the new 8.4 bezel ($150), radio ($500) and dealer flash ($40). Next to go in is the LCQ1 and Alpine power pack to power the 4 speakers. The LCQ1 will also give me the RCA out to add a sub in the future.

Just as a note, my vehicle came with heated seats, bluetooth etc already and everything works flawlessly. The turn by turn nav also shows up in the small screen behind the steering wheel.

I'm interested in the same upgrade, but my local dealer reports no knowledge of the "flash" you mention. His belief is that the VIN link to the radio is permanent and cannot be changed.

Do you have any more specific details on the dealer flash, maybe a code I can show?

Thanks

Have them reflash the BCM with the RA4/RA3 software. First have them check to make sure that radio option is available for your truck. I would also call oempartsco.com and ask them also.

Didn't you need a satellite antenna for the nav to work? Did you have to change the wire harness or is there an adapter?
