Uconnect gen 4 has 4G LTE through AT&T. Not that that helps us.

After driving about 2 hours around town yesterday, I still have not received the notification for the update.

Has anyone received the update notification yet?

Yes, but not in the Cherokee. Uconnect 4 is only in the Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler 300 for 2017. It also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It's a phased rollout. I take that to mean if will be weeks before everyone gets it. By the way, if anyone is running RAX software, I've confirmed with Customtronix that the OTA update will not appear at all. We'll need to wait for the downloadable version to appear online so that they can build a RAX version of it.

That's probably to prevent Sprint's 3G network from overloading.

This is great news. I have had a reproducible issue where if an iphone is connected to a charging cable it is impossible to have a second iphone playing through bluetooth. This creates issues when wife or daughter needs to charge their phone and I want to listen to my music and not theirs. This used to work, but it stopped after the prior update.

This would easily solve that issue (and charge much faster)

Yes, and I have one in my other car. BUT, that defeats the purpose of having all those USB outlets already built in to the Cherokee. This is something that should not happen. Selecting the bluetooth input SHOULD over-ride the USB or iPod inputs, but it doesn't now (and it used to!). There is a problem with the software and I am hoping the update fixes it. Periodically other weird stuff happens to the iPhone on UCONNECT, like being unable to hang up calls or make music play at all (even over USB cable).

I've reset the system and reset the phone, but no improvement.

The built in ports are for media, they are not really effective for charging.

They put out minimum usb power for powering usb Devices. Assuming they are standard they put out like .5 amps. Same as standard computer usb ports that aren't designated as charging ports.

You should always use a plugin charger designed for your phone. One with enough amps usually 2.4. Additionally each type of phone needs a different type of charger to charge effectively. there's adaptive fast chargers for modern androids, and apple wires it's usb non standard so getting a plug that says apple will make a big difference.

The usb ports in the car are really only effective at playing music.
