I had to do it to the aftermarket kickers. The stock 3.5"s sound like mud, the kickers actually brought some life to the sound but the tin tweeter produced some ugly high pitch sounds that I couldn't tame down using the factory equalizer. I can't remember what ohm resistors I used, it was about a year ago. I even took a picture and meant to post it to the forum but other things came up. Perhaps this weekend I'll pull out one of the speakers and snap a pic, I dont think I screwed them in so it should be easy enough.

Thanks I would really appreciate the extra effort for me! after I hooked them all up i know exactly what you are talking about. Its like the high hats in every song got an extra kick in volume. besides that I am very happy with the speakers

I know I saw one person cut out the 3.5 speaker hole in the grill so that they could use larger speakers

2x 12ohm resistors in series per speaker is how I managed to calm down the high hats and balance the treble. I have a stockpile of resistors and went through a few until I found the right combination that sounded right to me. I suppose you could use a single 14 ohm resistor as well. Hope this helps others that ran into the same problem.
