I strictly use iTunes for my music. I used a SansDisc in my 2014 Journey's 8.4, copied directly from my iTunes Library on my PC. Everything worked as designed. When I purchased the Jeep, I plugged in the SansDisc and little or no artwork showed up. Just that stupid music note. So, I now use strictly my 64 GB iPod. It is plugged into the USB port in the console, and is sitting in the top compartment of the console. Everything works as designed with the iPod. Same files as the disc! Gave up trying to figure it out!

I do miss the HD in my MyGig! I wish that they would bring it back!

That's a bummer. I expected, with the higher speeds of recent versions of BT, these services would let me use Waze and Spotify and Pandora, etc. without taking the phone out of my pocket.

That's just a universal statement I'm making. Not necessarily about the KL or even in-vehicle entertainment as a whole, but I believe it still holds true. Sometimes the losses are acceptable, or even imperceptible, in which cases a wireless connection is adequate. Each person's individual standard is also an important factor. Personally, I have fairly high standards when it comes to listening to music. I'm not a full-blown audiophile but I do strive for a very clean, loud sound--to the best of what my budget allows (Ok, I spent more than what my budget allows, but don't tell my wife!) I haven't tried listening to music via bluetooth in a long time, so maybe it's better now, but in the little experience I had with it, it would cut in and out or periodically degrade in quality more than I'm willing to tolerate. So I just stopped altogether.

It comes down to this: all the cables are already hooked up in the KL. The SD card or USB drive are extremely easy to use. You literally insert the medium into the slot and Presto! Not sure where the difficulty is...

So why NOT "mess with cables" (whatever that means)?

Ditto. I love Spotify, but one day I listened to it through the Uconnect and it just sounded tinny and low quality. That doesn't work for me. To each his own, though.

I have a copy of my favorite songs on an 8GB SD card (over 24 hours worth of music - takes up around 3GB) just for a back-up, just in case I'm in an area where Sirius or cell service is spotty.

As someone said, pop in an SD card and you would not even know it's there. It will even cycle through as one of the media sources when you push the middle button on the left of the steering wheel.

Super annoying about the album art! I also have the same music on both iPod (in the center console) and the SD card, but most songs on the SD card don't have the album art like they do in iTunes. There's a whole thread in here somewhere about this, but I don't think anyone ever came up with a solution of explanation. I just blame Apple...

I have my music on a 16GB SD card as well, and the Album art does show up on mine. What I did was I made a seperate folder for each artist, and a sub-folder for each album. Because I was transferring the whole folder from my music folder from my computer, I think the album art for each went with it. When I go out later today, I'll try to remember to take some pics from the uConnect screen showing how the folders were organized and the displayed album art when I play a song.

The key to album art in Uconnect is format and size. Back in 2014 Uconnect told me album art should be embedded JPEG 240 x 158 megapixels. Someone said they had success with up to 900 x 900. I've found that at that size there can be a delay in the art loading to the screen. Another person said to keep it around what Uconnect said because the unit scales them down anyway; IOW no advantage throwing more pixels in because you won't see them.

I use a simple little program that does quick resizing in a batch mode: Sanse Mp3 Art Sizer

except that i don't think that the radio looks at the embedded album image in the file at all, i am pretty sure that it uses a gracenote file just like the older 430/730 radios do.

The Uconnect people told me no Gracenote for 8.4. See last paragraph in post #1: SD Card Recommendations from Uconnect.

With help of other members, in post #20 I finally confirmed the issue and solved it using Sanse Mp3 Art Sizer: Solved!!!.

No issue with Spotify here. I use both Bluetooth and wired connections with my iPhone 7.

Maybe check your quality settings?
