Anyone tried to use a 64GB USB flash drive for music?

I've heard 64GB doesn't work for the SD card, but will it work for the USB?

Any successes or failures?

Thanks JCC!

I formatted a 64 GB card Fat 32 and was successful for about a month, til the music started duplicating on the card. Tried again with a new 32, and music is beginning to duplicate again. Still not sure what's going on. I'll just reformat every few weeks til I figured it out. Haven't tried USB.

It's not the size, but the format. 64GB SD cards are SDXC format, 32 GB is SDHC. There is a difference in hardware, and the Cherokee reader doesn't appear to read the newer (XC) format. I've had this issue with computer hardware as well.

Reformatting may work, but not sure I would do that....

Hmmm. I wonder if the 64GB USB and the 32GB USB are the same format. If they are, I assume they could both be used!

Still hoping someone has experience with this before I buy!

I think the Uconnect system reads FAT32 format, which has a 32GB limit. To go higher the format is usually NTFS

This was only the case with Windows 2000, but that was a limitation of the OS, not FAT32. As long as you format it with a newer operating system, you can format a 64GB card using FAT32. The differences between SDHC and SDXC are much more likely the culprit.

FAT32 formatting is required. The upper limit on FAT32 is 32GB due to licensing, you wont get your computer to format correctly it without cartwheels/third party software.

Download Fat32 Formatter, it works on any sized usb/flash drive. I use it to format cards to work in tablets and phones that don't support SDXC. Works perfectly.

I'm running a 750GB hard drive formatted under FAT32 with no problems.

17,000+ songs on it right now. Forget what the others say. It can be done.
