Finally got the thing to work. Had to disable my firewall on both the public and private network, reboot, and then skip the tutorial. Took about 5 tries on two different computers. Not for the faint of heart.

FYI, was a Windows 7 64 bit machine with Internet Explorer 11 that finally worked.

I have it downloading now on Windows 8.1 64-bit. Had to do the same...disable the firewall, disable anti-virus, use Internet Explorer in compatibility mode.

(EDIT: once the download started I turned my firewall and anti-virus back on and it kept downloading. I think using "compatibility mode" and enabling all the features of the site in Internet Explorer might have been the trick. Also set IE to be the default browser during this operation.)

To download in Windows 8.1 64-bit:
1. Set Internet Explorer as the default.
2. Set Internet Explorer to "compatibility mode"
3. Enable any plugins that show up at the bottom of the screen.
4. Install the downloader.
5. Repeat the "do I qualify" menu again and go to the end of the tutorial.

The file that goes on the USB stick is a 593 MB ISO file named "swdl.iso". You just stick the USB stick in a port and the upgrade starts, takes about 20 minutes.

Garage
I'll wait a few days so they can fix the glitches. I'm in no rush.

Thanks for all the information, I may trade for a Cherokee this week an will ask for the update prior to taking delivery. If it is a issue I don't mind doing it myself.
