I've confirmed that the Engine Off Power Delay is set to "0" (zero) seconds.

OFF as in several hours later (I think it was something like 3-4 hours later), the radio and dashlights were still ON. It only went off when I disconnected the battery.

Opening the door did not shut the radio and dashlights off either.

Anyhow, I've started a new thread in the main forum in the hopes of generating more exposure and discussion.

It appears the uconnect system is so integrated that you can't really turn off any aspect of the system.
Yeah, I always do the same. It just feels stupid to have to spin the volume controller three or four times when you'd like a single button press. To me I'd be happy with either a) make the mute permanent even after restarting the car or b) on the radio screen, add one more soft button ... am/fm/xm/off

Lightbulb Vav/GPS "always live"

If I have the radio on and the speed limit active on the Nav. it will call out when over the limit.
With the Assistance/911 emergency buttons in the Cherokee, Im not positive it is "OnStar" but if it isn't a licensed OnStar unit its a copycat OnStar service. I can tell you for fact (For 3 years I was the OnStar Enterprise Infrastructure Architect) that OnStar was always live and was always tracking/mapping your position via GPS. This was so that A) Concierge could help you find the closest (insert objective) and B) e911 was ALWAYS tracking your position watching for airbag deploy or red button push so that the operator would immediately dispatch police/fire/ems to your location.

My wife and I call our Cherokee "Harold" but it is "Maude" who is in the car...sorta like hubby and wifey...was also an old movie (1980's) " Harrold & Maude"... Old Excentric Lady and Young Nerdy Kid....Kinda fits...
P.S. When I open my door the radio goes off as well....couldn't resist that either...srry

Re the "always on" and no standby (volume staying muted) issue.....we all have a similar complaint. I recently spoke with a Uconnect rep/specialist at Jeep/Chrysler and he said there is no off on the Uconnect system,. ie. it is always on. I said "That's okay, just as long as I can have all sounds off when I choose, and have it stay off when I restart the car". He said that does not exist either, as the Mute button only holds during the current operation of the car. Once you shut the car off and then restart, volume level will no longer be muted, so our only option is to turn the volume knob. Grrrr! I told him that's a design flaw, for sure. He is going to take it up with Uconnect to see if there might be a fix for that we could download. I believe I saw a post from a Forum member who mentioned that there was already a download fix for the mute issue but Jon at Uconnect said "not to his knowledge". I think someone said this was for Canadian purchased Jeeps.
Anyone recall or have any new information? Thanks!

Had just posted a message asking about how to turn off the radio right before I found this thread. Kind of glad to know I was not the only one having issues with this. Felt kind of bad having to post to ask how to turn off the radio. That is just crazy LOL

I suggest everyone send a message to the UCONNECT people at They will acknowledge your suggestion and maybe we can get the mute "feature" changed.

im too lasy to read all the posts.. but if your not listening to the radio on your lunch, why is the key even on? roll windows down with the door open, turn off key. close door.

Did I miss something as to why the key would be on in the first place, if he's listening to ipod?

Why would you want to turn the radio off?
