Driving in the snow reviews

A kind request to all new Cherokee owners who have already experienced driving in deep snow, please share your reviews and opinions about behavior of your car wearing proper winter tires of course.

In the area where I live winter usually brings a lot of snow, so driving a car even in a city sometimes becomes a real challenge. Outside of the city in villages you would really have to storm snowdrifts.

I believe that today's weather in the North-East states and in Canada gives you good opportunity to test-drive a "snow" mode of your vehicles

I live at the dead end of a dirt road off another dirt road off another dirt road several miles into an unorganized township. The Jeep has been amazing on the roads in all snowy/ice conditions. Waaay better than my old Mazda B4000. My Corolla XRS with studded snow tires has also done well, but no comparison to the Jeep.

Can't say the same for frozen-lake driving but that's a completely different situation.

I may have missed an approach and landed in door-deep snow. It took sand/mud mode, 4low & diff lock but I managed to crawl my way out with no pushing or shoveling.

Here is a video of my friend's trailhawk playing around in some snow

works pretty good

We have found that on his trailhawk and my wifes ADII Cherokee snow mode works the best for anything related to the snow.

I took my Trailhawk up to Mt. Charleston (outside Las Vegas) last month and there was quite a bit of snow. I was out by myself (stupid!) hitting snow covered, muddy dirt roads in AUTO/SNOW and actually got stuck climbing a hill on my way out. Needless to say, I got slightly worried given how remote I was. Instead of climbing the narrow hill it started sliding backwards and sideways towards a drop-off.

I stopped, put it in low and engaged the locker, and it climbed out like a champ. I was jubilant to say the least.

Basically the worst conditions I can imagine a normal person being in without looking for trouble and it took it in stride. I would say on-road, nothing to worry about. Of course a big factor being whether or not you have the features of a Trailhawk but more importantly any Cherokee (with ADI or ADII) driving on snow covered streets should have snow tires.

it varied between 6-8 inches, in some places it was somewhat packed and firm, from freezing and thawing over and over again.

I had my FWD Cherokee with winter tires out in the snow and it performed quite well.

I was going up and down hills that full-sized SUVs were getting stuck on. Anywhere and in any road condition I had 100% confidence the KL.
