If you're driving through water it shouldn't come in as long as you limit your time in it. If you're up to your Cherokee emblems and stopped/stuck water WILL seep in and soak the carpets. BTDT.....took me a week to dry the carpets out, had to pull the seats

Here is the video. Yes it's long but it's a storm video after all.

CompuStar Dash CD-3200 available at bestbuy or cartoys. They are an American company based out of Seattle. It only takes up to a 32gb sd card and that does well. It's 720p both front and rear and is hardwired. I have a GPS antenna on it too but it's currently not working.

I am considering one for my road trip, 16,000 miles worth. My budget for one is not huge. And I would likely only do a front camera. Would you recommend this one or something different?

Thanks again for sharing your video.

This one comes with two cameras, records 24/7, you get about 4-5 days of constant recording roughly but if doing it for a trip id clear the card once a day. It also has a parking mode so when it senses movement it records it. Sadly this isn't really meant for long recordings as the videos are in 1 minute chunks. So if you want something more than an event recorder I'd go with maybe a hard mounted GoPro and have it hooked up to an external HD. I love my camera, for what I paid with installation it's not bad. The company is fantastic to work with, takes input then puts out new firmware based on your input. It's great. The one minute chunks thing is something they are working on. I tried to put a 128gb SD card in and after about a week it got stuck in an infinite reboot cycle. So I stay with a 32. Also, every two weeks it has you wipe the card to prevent defragmentation of the files on the card. Also, it won't right over any files saved as an event.

No water intrusion, water was up to between the top of the tire and fender. Bow wave cresting over the hood was due to me coming in too hot, once that settled you can see on the video that the water is just at tire height.

Post fording walkaround showed the engine compartment was dry and the airbox as well. Just got back from the dealership and showed them the video to "be sure". Clean bill of health. The technician listened to the video, asked me some questions, showed me where the diff breather is actually located, etc.... no issues. FYI

My water crossing experience was less dry. My cargo area was flooded. But I was nearly door handle deep. Airbox was wet. But dry passed the filter. The rest of the jeep was dry though and I've not experienced any issues.

Starting at about 23 1/2 minutes or so.
