Any chance you can get a buddy of yours a "rockstar deal" on the 8000 as well?
I'm trying to decide between that or a Smittybilt XRC 9500. RRO says the VR8000 is the only one that will fit, but the Smittybilt is similar size on the specs (Actually a bit smaller overall...)

I just ordered the winch mount, but I haven't ordered the bumper bar... I don't know if its possible to do the winch without it, but i'm gonna try!

What winch did you go with?

None, actually. I decided that I never wheel alone unless I'm on the beach, and even then a winch wouldn't help me since there are no trees around to self-recover with. I reallocated the funds for a set of rock rails which should be here tomorrow. Had I gone the winch route, I would have done the VR8000S

We were on a beach and bogged with no one else around and a winch fitted. We buried the spare tire and used that as the anchor point, it worked.
