AZ Group Ride - MAR 2017

Hey AZ Crew -

Looking to put together a group ride on Sunday 25 MAR. Any takers?

Some ideas I'm kicking around are
-Backway to Crown King (6-8/10)
-Saddle Mountain (3-6.5/10)
-Vulture Mine (4/10)
-Bloody Basin (2.5/10)

Using www.azoffroad.net as my reference for trail ratings.

Was thinking of meeting early near daybreak and rolling out before the trails get busy.

If we do Crown King (again) I really enjoyed ending at the top and grabbing lunch at the saloon.

I'm still relatively new to AZ, so I'm not overly familiar with the trails here. Suggestions welcome!

I might be up for that. Even though I live on the west side, I haven't ever done Saddle Mt or Vulture Mine trails.
So I'd vote for those above the others.

Are you thinking Sat the 25th? or Sun the 26th?

My apologies, Sunday the 26th.

I've got a buddy with an Xterra that will be joining us.

I haven't personally been to Vulture, but it looks awesome.

Saddle Mt isn't terribly challenging, but there are 2 severe washouts that def require skid plates, possibly rock rails. I think this one depends on how outfitted the group is. The scenery is stunning.

I agree. Vulture mine is probably the nicer (more scenic) trail too.

I'm likely about ready for an easy ride, the last big one "the back way to Crown King" cost me a bunch in suspension repairs. Bloody Basin to Sheep's Bridge is one I haven't done before and Vulture Mountain looks interesting too. BUT, I'm not able to make it really early in either case. I'll follow the discussion as to when and where and let you know if I can do it.

What time works for you @warzim? I'd like to include as many folks as possible!

The older I get the more sleep I need. I don't want to delay anyone if they like early rides but including travel time down to even the Wickenburg area from Prescott means I can't reasonably be there before about 8:30 or 9:00am. Maybe I should just stick to rides closer to home and let you guys go early. My feelings won't be hurt if I have to take a pass on this run.

Haha, I feel ya.
Let's solidify plans @warzim @ua_who

Sunday, 26 March
- 9am Vulture Mt Trail meet and ride
- Lunch in Wickenburg
- Possible 2nd trail run after lunch if we feel like it since Vulture Mt is so short (Monte Cristo or Anderson Mill)

Vulture Mt Trail
Trail the trail is short - about a 2-3hr ride
Staging Area 33.85236, -112.65876

If we finish too quickly, there are a few other shorter trails within 15 miles like Monte Cristo Mine (3/10) and Anderson Mill (3/10).
