Addition to the family

Needed a new second car. Decided it was time for something a little unique. Only 200 units for the canadian market (100 hard tops + 100 convertibles). Nicely equipped. Need to get out and drive it now... and can't wait to test the bi-xenons and Fender audio.

Especially the convertible, though I can't say I've seen that many guys drive a Beetle, period.

When we first visited the dealership, I had the Gulf in mind, but I knew she had a *thing* for the Bug. I kinda like it too. And then she joked with the sales guy saying too bad there wasn't a pink Beetle in the lineup. Sales guy put on a big smile and said : "Haven't you heard about the Pink Edition coming soon ?" Magic words...
One per dealership, and only if they pre-ordered one in April. They had one or order... even though the sales manager didn't really want one. But he was outnumbered
We had first dibs with a small deposit.
Other dealerships have been calling them since the day it got off the truck.

I will have no problem being seen behind the wheel. They even gave us pink framed sunglasses

The color is called Fresh Fuchsia Metallic and it is absolutely gorgeous.

My first new car was a VW New Beetle in 2000.

Also, there are two newer Beetles at work, both are guys that drive it.

Most of the owners I've interacted with on VWVortex and newBeetle.org were guys as well.

Also, great looking Beetle!

Thanks !

I think I'll stay away from VWVortex for as long as I can, after reading some comments here

This *Pink Edition* was a social media marketing thing (#PinkBeetle) last spring, but we hadn't seen it. VW decided to tease people online by asking who would like to buy a pink Beetle. The response was obviously good enough and they quickly went ahead with it. Of course this one will appeal more to girls, but I have to admit this color is really nice.

Funny thing happened while she was leaving the dealership (no pics sorry... I was in a hurry to alert the sales guy and manager) : she was waiting at the red light next to the dealership and this GMC Sierra came up behind here, with a flatbed trailer in tow. With a fuchsia Corvette Stingray on it (1969-ish). It's a small city here and I had never seen that 'Vette before.

Anyway, looking forward to driving my first Beetle, ever

My wife (sorry!) drives a 2003 Turbo Convertible...loves that car. It drives like a dream and handles like a go cart. Been pretty pain free repair wise as well, with exception of a water pump at around 120,000 almost no repairs. Enjoy the new ride.

Interesting you say that. I dumped my 2000 because of a dead water pump around 120k. The dealership wanted almost 5k for the repair, and I wanted a truck. Lol.

5k to fix a water pump ? Was this a Bugati dealer ?? Holy Moly...
Wait a minute... old Bugs had air cooled engines, right ? Maybe we can forget the water pump and go for a really big fan instead
