I'd go with the RAM 1500 with the diesel simply because of the coil spring rear axle. The ride is almost car like, compared to the unloaded ride of all the other trucks in this class. I am not a fan of Ford's echoboost engines; Ford is no longer on my list or preferred vehicles. I will never buy a Government Motors vehicle. I got a good look at a new Silverado the other day, at a stop light, and I think that they are butt ugly. GMC is a scam; a high priced Chevy.

Those weights are easily pulled by any full size truck. If that's all you're pulling, I'd take a gas motor and avoid the maintenance of a diesel.
If you will pull more, or are pulling the trailer constantly, then 100% diesel is the way to go.

For brand preference, I did a lot of shopping around last year at this time, and came up with these generalizations:
If the priority is comfort - Chevy/GMC
If the priority is towing/motor - Ram.
If you want bare bones, cheap - Ford.

I deal with a lot of contractors daily, and the boss usually drives a Ram or Chevy. Ram if he is towing equipment to the site all the time.
The generic trucks though for all of the other guys are mostly base model F150's. Cheap, get beaten up, keep running.

edit: notice I didn't mention Nissan or Toyota. I hear good and bad, but never really considered/researched them so I will keep my mouth shut.

I think fords interior is better than Chevy but that's my experience and also believe they're more expensive.

Plus if you dropped a toolbox on a linexed bed, you would break the toolbox lol... linex is virtually indestructible and is what I would have in my bed if I got a truck no matter what truck.

The upgraded Fords have good interior, but ARE more expensive.

In the end, I decided on a GMC Canyon. 7000lb towing, 25mpg on the highway.
I don't tow very much at all and the interior, and ease of driving became the priority. So I realized I didn't even need a full size truck anyway.
