Well I'll be damned. That works

Ended up un-installing. It's making some of my work sites wonky, plus the forum looks really weird without the ads.

I'm using Safari on a Mac with plugins Ghostery and AdBlock Plus installed. As I type this, the Ghostery icon in my toolbar indicates that it is blocking 12 trackers. The AdBlock Plus icon shows that it is blocking 2 ads. With these plugins installed, I am never slowed down or annoyed by banner ads, nor do I have shadowy entities following me around wherever I go on the Internet.

Being in the advertising business, I appreciate that ads cover the operational costs for free sites such as this, along with paid memberships. However, those who design and place the ads seem to forget that not everyone lives in a high-speed, unlimited-bandwidth world. I live in a remote location where cabled high-speed Internet access is not available at any price. I choose to live here because it's beautiful, peaceful and literally crime-free. I get Internet access by using my mobile phone as a personal hotspot, and I enjoy high-speed browsing, but my monthly bandwidth is limited. I can't allow bandwidth-hogging ads to be served or I would have to stop using the Internet only part-way through each month or pay an exorbitant amount for more bandwidth. Neither of those things is going to happen.

I would recommend changing away from adblock or adblock plus.
They have been sold to AD companies.

Try using uBlock Origin.

I'm sure you'll be fine either way, but I made the switch.
Also, are these ad's benefiting the site? Might want to not broadcast ad blocking if it's not intrusive for most.

Well, not exactly. AdBlock and AdBlock Plus are not the same plugin. Once, during a hardware upgrade, I mistakenly installed Adblock (without the Plus) and it was completely ineffective -- wouldn't load when I launched Safari. I finally discovered my mistake, uninstalled AdBlock and installed AdBlock Plus, which works as desired.

AdBlock has been sold, but nobody knows who bought it, and it is still being marketed. AdBlock Plus remains the property of the original developer, Eyeo GmbH. To make things more confusing, AdBlock Plus is based on the code of a third plugin, also named AdBlock! (Where's the U.S. Copyright Office when you need them?) Eyeo did join the controversial "Acceptable Ads" program in 2011. If AdBlock Plus is allowing "acceptable ads," I haven't seen them, or they are so non-intrusive, I haven't noticed them, and the advertisers have wasted their money on me.

All that being the case, I will investigate UBlock. Could be interesting, if they've ported it to Mac.

I must be blind. I have never seen an ad, logged in or not, and for that, I am thankful!
