I'm guessing you're taking them with an iPhone.........

note which way you hold your phone when you are taking pictures (camera lens upper corner or lower corner), turn it the other way and they will come out normal once uploaded and displayed on a windows machine.

I'm taking them on my galaxy s7.....when I try uploading them from my phone it keeps saying an error occurred so I put them on my laptop and tried loading them that way and they're upside down or sideways...I'll try taking them holding the phone on different positions and see if that helps.

What kind of error message do you get? Are you using the stock app on the s7? or a downloaded app from the playstore?

It should also depend on how you take the photo on the phone as well. even though if you take the picture upside down, and the phone auto rotates it for your convenience, uploading it on a site does not always recognize that you did.

Lee is correct. For anyone interested in gory details: JPEG Rotation and EXIF Orientation

Like SpeedtekTH suggested, a little testing of your S7 will show which way to hold the phone while taking the picture. I think my S6 is with the volume buttons down. Also, if you are using Windows Explorer or many photo software programs like Picasa, these allow you to view the photo and rotate and save to the orientation desired before uploading.

I always upload my photos to a online hosting site such as photobucket. Then, just cut and paste the IMG link from photobucket into my post on this site. No issues with upside down pictures.

@crgirl3388 I always email the pictures from my phone to myself so I can get them on a computer. When I download them from the email, I open them using paint. There's more than one way to do it of course, but this is just my way. Paint has a rotate tool that you can use to flip your picture around.

Plus on paint, I can crop out just the part of the photo I want to be seen and make my picture file smaller and easier to upload some where. Takes up less space on my computer too, because I'll delete the original usually.
