These are not the ad scripts. You can keep the rest of the items listed blocked. It's just the Verticalscope scripts that need to run.
FIXED for uBlock Origin (uBO)

What I suggested in post #38 works. It allows the Verticalscope scripts to run and do their thing, and then uBO can be turned back on to block ads. But it is an additional several steps that aren't necessary.

I did not want to spend time learning more about uBO, but I did after Dayle in post #39 mentioned the Verticalscope scripts need to run otherwise certain functionalities of the site are broken.

Here's why putting 'verticalscope.com' in uBO's whitelist pane doesn't work. From uBO's wiki: "uBO will try to match the URL of the page in the address bar against the existing whitelist directives. When there is a match, uBO will be disabled for that page." Verticalscope.com is a domain and does not appear in the address bar, therefore a match never occurs.

Here are the steps to take in uBlock Origin that uses dynamic filtering to enable the scripts at the Verticalscope domain to run, but still blocks the ads. I'm doing this in Chrome, so navigation may be different in other browsers, but the concept is the same.

1) Right click the uBO icon at the top right of the browser.
2) Click the Options selection in the drop down menu.
3) Select the Settings tab in the new browser tab that opens.
4) Click the checkbox next to I am an advanced user
5) Open a new tab and go to the JCC site.
6) Left click the uBO icon at the top right of the browser and scroll down to the Verticalscope.com entry.
7) In the 3rd column (local dynamic filtering), left click in the left part of that column to turn it Green. The 2nd column is global; don't use that.
8) Click the padlock image to lock it in.

Now you can go to the JCC site, leave uBO on, and the JCC site works the way it used to when the member signed in.

I'll test some tonight. I'm knee deep in recovering the office from a UPS failure.

Nope, I've whitelisted verticalscope on 1Blocker, and the site still isn't working on iOS.

Okay, white listing the entire site under 1Blocker, I'll get feed back into this attempt.

EDIT: the above was done using the quick post option. Whitelisting the entire site seems to work.

Sadly, whitelisting the entire site brings back the unruly advertising.

Hey there

It wouldn't be the entire site that needs to be whitelisted, just the Verticalscope.com scripts. Try adding static.verticalscope.com and comet-admin.verticalscope.com instead of all of JCC.com.

Nope. Added just those two sites to 1Blocker on iOS and the site is broken again. No inline images, quick reply doesn't work, and the editing/formatting tools are missing.

Hey Alfrik and others using Ublock,

We recently found out that adding static.verticalscope.com and comet-admin.verticalscope.com didn't pan out in the way we hoped it would. Luckily, we found another way. Try the following steps:

1.  Go to ublock’s dashboard
2.  Go to My Rules Tab
3.  Under temporary rules click edit
4.  At the top of the list put in * verticalscope.com * allow
a.  This is complete with the * and spaces between
5.  Hit save
6.  Hit commit
7.  Refresh the site

Let us know how that works out for you - thank you for your patience and understanding on this.

Cheers,
Natalie

I'll try ublock when I have the chance. However it appears whitelisting the entire verticalscope domain under 1Blocker does nothing to fix the issue.

Testing - so far it still appears the whitelisting of verticalscope on 1Blocker does not fix the issue. Next step is to disable 1Blocker and see if it's an issue with how safari on IOS is handling the site.

Edit: nope, quick reply and the editing/formatting features are still broken after whitelisting the verticalscope domain and a reboot of the iPad.
