Cherokee Diesel in the works

Maybe it's because in USA the people have more cars on the road with gas than petrol, and Europe it's more expensive the fuel so we use more petrol. Probably it's not a big reason.

Comparing both type of motors, gas (pentastar) responds faster, that's something that Americans appreciate. Same truck with different motors means that there are two ways to drive.
Also Jeep can not offer the small version 140hp diesel in USA because this one is sold only with manual transmission and not automatic something that don't like people there to much. Also petrol as I remember from my last visit at California has similar price or little hi than gas so don't compensate to much.

Any way a don't change the diesel for a gas. I like diesel motors. On hi-way the consume it's lower than the one I expect when I bought it. I imagine that was going to be 30% more than the one I'm having.
In city it's bigger, by miracle it's not often that I go inside the difficult city traffic. So City it's not my normal trip.

Toy do you let me try your 170hp? Please? Hahaha

I think, it's not a good idea to let you drive the 170 HP. At the end, you won't like the small one anymore. LOL.

Hahaha guys don't be afraid, I don't change my small diesel motor until jeep release ( and also I finish the payments for actual one) a 170hp with manual shifting gearbox. I now sounds strangely but I prefer the manual one for the trips I do. I ride on mountains with lot of curves so I feel more confidence to keep the motor on hi rpm on some situations. That's why I decide to bought the small version.

But I know that your motor with automatic gearbox goes so soft and it's a nice truck to drive. So soft....

I'm strange that the only issues we see with the new models are on gas versions. I didn't have any one and I think the ones we have diesel version we are out from the black list.

I haven't see any issue only a small sound from the plastic on the central console close to the shifting and terrain selector.

I went few weeks to my local jeep service and they reduce it, also they change the motor belt by a internal recall.

I think we are the White list hahaha. I really like my new truck and I feel so security, confident, comfort inside it.

Have you take yours off road or longs trips?

Me, yes ️and all its 100% working great. Soft off road and some long trips.

It's more capable than what I was thinking.

Anyone have any issues with stop start function I have a 2.0 Diesel Limited and it doesnt work just says not available battery charging and always says this

Hi!
This can happens if this is your first days ride. If you are doing small trips less than 30-40 minutes it's not enough time to charge battery. In my case I was having a message that say low battery when I try to start the car (my trips are more than 50min per trip, 2 times at day) so I have to shut down and start again. I went back to my sealer and they restart the electronic software configuration so this solves the issue. That day took close to 1h to charge back the battery. So it's similar case to you. On that out Start Stop dosent works. After a full charge it works fine with out problem.
There are some condition under start stop system will not work.

Fuel its 2/8 or less remain.
Diesel filter it's cleaning. (1 time each 1000-2000km) takes 10-20 min.
Truck run low battery. On city with dense traffic if you are moving 5m and stop continuously. It works but not all times can be on stop until recover the battery power consumption. It don't take so long.

There is a peculiar error/prevent that you may see one day.

You are driving under normal condition so you stop and you look a map, make a phone call send mail .... (stop/standby entry on service) so you are doing your things, then the car after 5-10min turns on. (At this moment you haven't touch gear box, clutch or acceleration pedal) this is normal but if you continue stopped with out do anything after 5min the car turns of. In this case the System shows a general failure on start/stop and might be restart. Press off left 1-2seconds and start manually. If you try to start with out going to off position the truck try to start, shows low battery and the most afraid situation it's that you here that you are really out of battery!! It looks like the battery it's uncharged and there is no power to start.

So remember to stop/shut down as when you left it parked and start again.


Try to make a long ride and see if that ride gives end off time to make the full charge battery. Maybe you are in city and the initial full charge was not completed and system keeps on memory task this pending charge.
