Drones

MrsRojhan is trying to be the voice of reason for large $$ purchases, which is why I'll be waiting for some stocks and bonuses to clear before going after the rock rails.

But, then she decided to share this:

me: Are you trying to convince me to get one? Would be fun for watching the off-road stuff. :P
MrsRojhan: Well it looks like something you would enjoy

Hmm - not necessarily a bad problem to have with the comptroller....
Would be fun for watching, but that means someone has to be out operating that verus in enjoying the ride (or out guiding the vehicle)...

I just saw that last night - pretty funny; although I wished it was a bit longer and they really showed what would happen if 6 cycles were 'hunting' the same drone. :-O

Take a hard look at the GoPro Karma kit. There's a lot of versatility in one easy to carry package. I've got the DJI hand-held system (Osmo) and while it's good, I hate to buy multiple products when one can do it all.

Normally, my trucks are 1/10th the size.

We could have used it for NOVA: Peter's Mill 2016 Trail Report so @gravitywell didn't need to risk getting stuck at a dead end in NOVA: Peter's Mill 2016 Trail Report)

Before doing Black Bear Pass earlier this month, we watched this drone footage. It was great to have this perspective. Would love to have an "economical" drone.

It looks like I get to be a "Pilot".... or at least an "Airman".... A "remote pilot", from what I can tell so far, is just a proctored knowledge test and a fee.

Being a remote pilot automatically removes some of the "ask for permission first" requirements and expands some of the areas that can be flown.

Still poking at it, but it looks like as a hobbyist/recreational flyer, I have to inform the local airport every time I want to fly even in my own yard (which I don't have...). As a pilot, I'm apparently certified to not do something stupid/dangerous and don't have to inform.

Of course, it's also not really clear if drone regulations have actually settled.
