replacing shower cartridge

shower has been dripping for a long time. seems to be getting worse. thinking about replacing it myself. but removing it, cleaning it, adding some faucet grease & adjusting the collar might reduce the dripping. anyone do this recently? watched about 10 youtube videos this morning

turns out it's a Symmons which from what I can find out doesn't take an easy to replace (by amateur) plastic "cartridge". when they leak, you have to replace the metal (copper/brass?) spindle assembly (aka their brand cartridge) & usually also the 2 part metal (& hard to remove) "seat kit" requiring a pipe remover & 4-way tool. ugh. think I'll call my plumber. the parts appear to be readily available, si I can at least give the plumber some info about what (brand) he'll be working on before he comes over

Can't you just unscrew the shower head from the chrome pipe? Then, ditch the shower head and buy a new one, and screw it back on. Save the expense of a plumber.

What was the thread starter here? is this a transmission issue or a heating air condition issue?
