Internet Privacy and VPN

I've had a few folks ask me about this (I used to to this as part of my day job, and I'm still actively involved) as well as myself and others I know taking steps to regain some measure of control over privacy.

The link below is actually a pretty reasonable explanation of what's going on and, more specifically, that VPN isn't necessarily a magic wand...

Of course, for those that post "Hey, look. High score on the speed radar! W00t!" on Facebook, etc.... nothing will help.

There's also the case that any site you have to actually login to is going to have whatever information you give them, regardless of VPN, "private browsing", etc.

I'll let everybody make up their own rating of "I have nothing to hide" through "hah! If they want to see what I do, what has been seen can't be unseen!" and "OMG they are out to get me!".

Also keep in mind that if you use a VPN service, you will likely see a huge impact in latency and bandwidth.

I'm still up to my ears in reading and research (which I enjoy) and one source I've found for (seemingly) unbiased reviews and information is (I have no affiliation with this site.)

It can give a very detailed, or a "simple" break down of features for each VPN Service.

At this point, I may just cut the cord and go live in a tree.

I had my identity stolen 3 times in 2015. So, I guess if they want to watch me, they can. ****, it might be one of my alter egos that they are watching, and not me. That would be a good thing for me!

Want to "GO DARK" to some degree and still browse? This analysis provides some insight and an approach to reducing tracking: Security Now 607 - Proactive Privacy. Starts at about 1:43 and ends at 2:26.

I used to use "Hide My A** Pro" on both my iphone and computer. It worked great, I'm just not very interesting anymore so I stopped.
