Speed Adjusted Volume? Effective?

First of all, what exactly does it do?

And do you use it? If so is it effective, and what setting do you use? (1, 2 or 3)

Thanks everybody!

Increases volume with speed to counter increased road/wind noise. I set mine at 3.

I like the setting when I am on the freeway or when I have the windows open.

I use 3 as well, but that's because I find it has almost no effect. I was driving my father in-law's Chevy van on the weekend and his single setting speed adjust volume had a range of at least double what the KL has at setting no.3.

It works. I have mine set at 2. But I usually adjust the volume manually with the button on the back side of the steering wheel.

I wasn't happy with the overall volume from the system till I set it to 3. Now when I'm all alone and the windows are down, it's almost loud enough to call it "cranked up" :)

I don't use it and haven't tried it. If I find I can't hear as well due to road or wind noise, I just turn it up. But most of the time my radio lives at 14 to 16 on SD Card and 16 to 20 on FM or XM depending on channel (comedy isn't as loud as music).

With the windows up, I prefer it on the 2 setting. Increases the sound as speed increases just right. With windows down, 3 seems like a better choice.

I love how everyone has an opinion on this - here's mine ;)

When my dealer walked me through the stereo setup the day I picked up the Jeep - he set it to 1 and commented that "anything over 1 is just a little too much".

A week later - I turned it off completely (mostly because I don't like it adjusting on it's own. If I want it louder I use the steering wheel buttons).
